In order to match the variator to the drive belt width and thus obtain excellent acceleration, you will need these washers. Shims are used to "lengthen" the bushing; this allows the belt to sit in the lowest position (without letting the belt slip). The lower the belt, the better the acceleration gets. These little washers sit between the fixed drive pulley and the sleeve and move the pulley further out, how far depends on the shim you're using. You'll probably have to try different sizes to find the optimal setting, but once you get it you'll be amazed at how much a perfectly tuned CVT can improve performance.
